Roles in ECE National Level

National Institute for Early Education Research NIEER http://nieer.org/
WESTED  http://www.wested.org/cs/we/print/docs/we/home.htm
High Scope http://www.highscope.org/
National Center for Research on Early Childhood Education NCRECE http://www.ncrece.org/wordpress/

I have chosen the above organisations to be part of my community of practice because they all have on-going research projects on the challenge I am working on presently--Standardised testing and assessment.

Again, the job opportunity I am looking forward to aside being a Director of child care centres is to be a Research Assistant. It is the era where principles are carried out in early childhood settings based on research results. The basic requirement is my interest and a degree in my field of interest.

Hence, while I read and utilise other research findings, I will like to have to my credit some findings too.

  1. Toluwalope,
You have chosen three great organizations that appealed to you to be part of your community of practice. I heard of about NIEER before but never really did any research on that site. After skimming it, I realize that it has some great information like the article about what Senator Casey “Calling the federal budget “a reflection of which we are” as a nation, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey ripped a proposed Senate Republican budget on Thursday for failing children” (http://nieer.org/). He is so right; I cannot believe that early childhood education is getting such a beat down in congress.
I wish you much success as a Director of a childcare program and hopefully in the future as a Research assistant.

  2. I am impressed that you want to be a research assistant. I love reading the research in the classroom. I used to say I don't think I would like to be a researcher, but through the Walden process I have discovered that If I find a passion research is very rewarding. I will be following your challenge and CoP because I am not a fan of standardized testing; therefore, I want to see what you unfold through growing your CoP.

  3. Great post on your three organization for this week. I never heard of the NIEER and plan on during my own research on it in the future. I wish you much success on becoming an Director.
